New APEX Honors  Program at ESCS - [Link: APEX Application]
An exciting new program for talented students is featured at EastSide Charter School this year.  High performing students are often overlooked. Students who have the capacity to go beyond the state assessment and compete on a higher level should be given every tool necessary to succeed. To ensure that top performing students reach their peak, we have created the APEX Honors Program. We are continuing our tradition of enrollment incentives. Our school seeks enrollment of incredible students for the 2020-21 school year. If you are referring a new family/student(s), please use the link above to provide information for the students you are helping to enroll at our school.

Team Recruitment Open House

LiveSchool
We’re excited to be using the LiveSchool application school-wide this year!  Even better than ClassDojo, LiveSchool provides our school with so many features and abilities that we’re happy to share with you. You and your students can access their “bank account” at home and determine awards that your child would like to purchase from the SOAR STORE using credits earned through LiveSchool. Paychecks will be coming home every week on Thursdays. They should be signed and returned to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday morning. Please download the “LiveSchool Parent App” on any home device to log in!

School Sports 2019-2020
Any student who would like to play a fall, winter or spring sport in Middle School MUST have a DIAA physical that is dated after April 1, 2019 to be able to participate. To avoid any delay in participating, please submit them now, or make the necessary doctor appointments to get the needed DIAA physical. Your Middle School child will NOT be allowed to participate without one. If you have any questions or need the DIAA form please contact Nurse Dottie at 302-762-5834 ext. 108.

Weather Delays and Closing
Please check the school’s facebook page to get instant updates in school delays and closings. Also you can check the state site for closings at: https://schoolclosings.delaware.gov. An automated blast will also be sent out to all families. Please contact the main office if you are not receiving emails or phone calls.

Cellphone Policy
Student cellphones must be away and turned off—not silent.  To keep our community academically focused, it’s important to prioritize learning and avoid possible distractions.  If a phone is seen (whether in use or not), it will be confiscated by an adult and kept with your student’s grade-level dean or leader.  Only a parent/guardian can pick up a cellphone after dismissal.  If you need to communicate any messages to your child, please call the office at (302) 762-5834.  We have systems in place to ensure that all messages can be relayed quickly and efficiently!  We appreciate your understanding and commitment in this initiative.

Temporary Transportation Changes
This form is to be completed if your student’s transportation needs to be changed temporarily.  Please be as specific as possible when completing the form.  All changes must be submitted by noon.

​Fridays This School Year
For parents making plans for the 2019-2020 school year… In past years EastSide has dismissed students at midday on Fridays to permit teacher training. This 2019-2020 school year teacher training will be scheduled differently (which may require some school closings, see calendar). EastSide will be open for full days on Fridays, with dismissal beginning at 2:30 pm.  Please consult the School Year Calendar (click here) for specifics of all school closures.

Collegiate Attire
On the last Friday of the month, students may wear a college shirt with their uniform pants. 

Fans of Eagles Sports
Keep up with the exploits of the EastSide Charter Eagles on their new website … www.escssports.com.   The site provides schedules and other notes of  interest on the Eagles.  Check back often to get information on rescheduling of games etc.  The sports website can also be reached through the green Clubs/Sports Schedules button on this page or the Athletics navigation tab,   And, we will now have concessions at all home games  -  Thursdays are game days at ESCS.

School Uniforms
​Uniforms are available for purchase at the ESCS main office starting Monday 8/7 between the hours of 10am and 1pm.  Please make sure your child has their correct attire for the year.  All students in black pants, K-4 = Green shirt, 5-8 = Grey shirt. 

Thankful
​The staff at EastSide is thankful for the commitment and support of our parents to our school and their children today and every day. Our work would not be possible without the hard work and dedication parents provide in ensuring their children are cared for and come to school ready to learn each day. We appreciate our partnership with families in this journey as well as the trust our families have placed in us to have their children in our care each day. Thank you for all that you do!

Meals Program

---

All ESCS students receive free meals. We encourage families to take advantage of this special program. Our meals: contain no pork, peanut or seafood products, use only whole grains, come with 1% white and fat free flavored milk and fresh fruit with every meal.

We have created a custom site for our ESCS food service department. You will find it to be an all-inclusive user friendly Nutrition website for students, parents and staff. Please click the School Meals button to access the new food portal and the Food Menus button to view the monthly meal menus.
